Throughout this book, you will meet with me on several occasion for coffee while I tell you about the events that shaped my life and how they affected me. I hope I did justice to my family.

I don’t remember every detail of my past and wish people wouldn’t ask. I blocked out a lot and what is mentioned here is what I remember how things were. I know that I am the last girl out of the original family I was born into, and that everyone has left me here to face life by myself.

Blurb:

This book is packed full of short poems and micropoetry with a sincere touch of mystery and a strong feeling of mixed emotions written with the ease of her pen during the late hours of the night. JAnn’s poems follows a sense of loss with a sense searching of something she or anyone could be lingering for in life.

Quietly she sits

Knowing her pen

Will paint the words

Of a futuristic feast

Of daydreams

As beautiful as waterfalls.

“Wasted” Book Review

I read Wasted and I discovered an amazing poetry book written by JAnn Bowers. With her poetry she took me to a world of loneliness and despair of a broken heart who found hope going through waterfalls, stars, moon, and night. Traveling in memories and illusions the poet carries us to a world of secrets some sad, some full of hope and strength. Finally taking us to sunshine and paradise.

In every poem I was able to feel her because she has a good way with words. Short but deep poems presenting an inner struggle that lets us feel connected with her.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good moment of quiet reading. I really enjoyed reading Wasted because as I went through the pages I could not stop reading because it felt like it was a story in which

every chapter was unveiling the strength and capacity of recovering from a broken heart.

“Wasted” Book Review

Wasted is a string of poems that JAnn twirled into words full of meaning of loneliness, bit sad and a huge dash of hope. Her poetry flows from one poem to the next easily, making it an enjoyable read.

The poems ‘Words’ and ‘Sketch a Dream’ are two that I found to be a motivation. A favorite line of mine from this book is “Captures her beauty/Creates her strength/And… She reigns like a queen/In her own world of words.” There are numerous of more lines similar to this, filling up these pages in Wasted.

She’s Gone: Broken, Battered, Abused by JAnn Bowers

Depression, anxiety, and pain has enslaved me. Depression is my hero! Anxiety is my enemy! And pain is my lover! Poetry written by a depressed poet facing life challenges.

“Depressed Poet”

Life has been rough
Depression, anxiety and pain
Has enslaved me
Depression is my hero
Anxiety is my enemy
And pain is my lover
For no one else wants me

Life has been rough
Depression saves me everyday
It enslaves my mind from people
For without the depression
My creativity would be dead…

Life has been rough
Anxiety is my enemy
It has enslaved me to my own corner of darken soul
For without anxiety I wouldn’t search so hard for the light….

Life has been rough
Pain is my lover
For it keeps me feeling and alive
To write these words that fall from my fingertips.

I’m not an avid reader of poetry thus my rating.

This is a quick read of a collection of poem’s by an author who has depression, anxiety and chronic pain illnesses. I give her major kudos for being able to write her thoughts down in the form of poetry as a coping mechanism and a way of releasing her feelings in a healthy way. I’m sure doing so helps the healing process of so many pent up emotions and feelings.

I am an advocate for mental health awareness to help try to end the stigma associated with these illnesses. For some, these illnesses are a constant battle. For others, there are flare ups. For others, they have successfully battled the illnesses during a rough time in life and don’t reemerge.

Ms. Bowers has shared her dark times with these collection of poems with her readers and gives readers insight into the thoughts and feelings she went through, hoping by doing so it helps others.

If you have these illnesses, you’ll connect with some or all of these poems. If you in know someone with these illnesses or wish to know what it’s like having them, then I think you’d benefit by reading these! I know I personally related to many of the poems.

Thank you Ms. Bowers for having the courage to share your thoughts and help raise awareness. Wishing you peace, positive light and may all your dreams come true!

It was impossible for me to savor for another sitting. I felt every word. I related to all the wide range of feelings. The titled poem lives inside many unspoken. More importantly unwritten. I’d recommend this treasure to those feeling stuck. I’m greatly inspired to pick up my paper and pen. I can’t move forward without putting it down in black and white. Thank you for the movement of my soul JAnn Bowers!

This collection is honest and poignant. JAnn Bowers writes from the depths of her soul and you can really feel both her pain and her strength in her words. Great read!
