From City To Country by Kimberly Grell

city to country

Sean Banks is a city boy from the bustling city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. His line of work consists of surveying land and marking it for sale if circumstances require it. When he receives notice about farm land needing surveying, he’s quick to jump on the job.
Upon arrival, the land looks habitable but definitely needs work. Little does he know, the land is still owned by the Berry family, whom are having a bit of a tough time keeping up with the ever changing economy. Amid his stay, Sean has the Berry family convinced he will help them out of the situation, which is to clean things up and sell the land.
Things go according to plan until he meets their daughter, sharp tongued, takes no crap from anyone, Cynthia Berry. Will the two learn to get along for the time being or will things fall through?

I do enjoy reading Kimberly Grell’s novels and City to Country is no exception. Sean is a city boy, who goes to check on a large and, apparently abandoned, property way out in the country, with a view to appraising it for sale to big developers. On arrival he is stunned to realise that far from being abandoned, the owners – the Berry family – are still working the farm. They assume he’s there to help them make the farm profitable again and Sean doesn’t see any reason to disabuse them of this notion. He cannot stand the countryside, with its obnoxious smells, unruly animals and questionable inhabitants. All he wants to do is complete the appraisal and get back to the city as fast as is humanely possible; if that means living a lie for a couple of days, that’s what he’ll do.

Cynthia, the Berry’s daughter, does not trust Sean or his motives and treats him with disdain, persuading him into a variety of farm activities, in the hope he will humiliate himself – which he does with very amusing results. However the longer Sean stays, the more he comes to appreciate what the Berry’s have, not to mention his unexpected and undeniable attraction to Cynthia. Will he do the right thing, or is his job and the call of the city more important?

Kimberly has given her readers another fun read and one I would recommend to anyone who loves a sweet romance with an interesting plot, a collection of lively characters and plenty of laughs. 5 stars!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this novel – this is my unbiased opinion and have since purchased it.
