Princess of Zenina (The Zeninan Saga Book 1) by Giselle Marks
Princess Marina, who is on a hunting expedition to the Royal reserve, Planet Qu, rescues a group marooned by pirates. They are protected only by a one-armed, disgraced, former Markaban officer, Major Heneran Bromarsh. The Zeninan race has many abilities most humans do not have, including healing powers.
Marina carries the refugees home to Hemithea, capital city of Zenina, ruling planet of the Zeninan Empire. Zenina is ruled by Marina’s mother, Queen Kerina. Here men are sex slaves and the rapacious women are stronger. It is a dangerous place for unprotected men.
Bromarsh strives to discover why he was framed for causing a massacre of civilians and seeks revenge. But the plot is not easily unravelled, and during his journey of discovery he falls under Zenina’s spell. Bromarsh is befriended by the gorgeous Charles, Marina’s slave. Charles, though deeply in love with his mistress, is a leader of the movement for the liberation of Zenina’s slaves. Princess sets the scene for Marina to fulfil her destiny, but there are many difficulties in her way.

I am anticipating the rest of the books in the Zenina saga.

This was such an interesting sci-fi read. The idea of a planet ruled by women where the men are slaves was vastly intriguing, so I grabbed a copy, and eagerly read this rich, detailed, complicated, and compelling world Miss Marks created. The deep layers to the world building was superb and well crafted. I understood the cogs that kept the planet working, its political, religious, and moral system, and I applaud the author’s lush and intricate imagination and writing. This is the first installment in the series, and Princess of Zenina (The Zeninan Saga Book 1) established the foundation of the word/planet quite well, and gave us a very good glimpse into our heroine Princess Marina’s strength and flaws, and the challenges she could endure when the crown falls to her. We got a peek into the future installments with the princess dreaming a terrifying prophecy of seeing her home broken and her people enslaved, and resolve to save her people.
